Product safety
Draft, pending legal review.
Most of what we sell is made by hand in small workshops. That is the point of the store, and it also means we take safety seriously rather than assuming a factory has done it for us.
Reporting a safety concern
If something you bought from us is unsafe, or you think it might be, use the contact form and tell us:
- the order number
- which item
- what happened, and whether anyone was hurt
Please keep the item and the packaging if you can, and stop using it. Do not throw it away before you hear from us — we may need to see it or send it on.
We aim to acknowledge safety reports within one business day. This is separate from a normal return: you do not need to decide whether it counts as a fault first. Send it to us and we will work that out.
What we do with a report
We look at the item, contact the maker, and check whether other units from the same batch could be affected. If we conclude there is a real risk, we stop selling the item immediately while we investigate.
If we have to recall something
We keep a record of which order each item shipped in, so we can identify everyone who received an affected batch. If a recall is necessary we will:
- email every customer who received the item, using the address on the order
- post a notice on this page
- remove the item from sale
- tell you what to do with it, and refund or replace it at no cost to you, including return shipping
Where the law requires it, we will also report the incident to the relevant US authority, such as the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Using our products safely
A few general notes that apply to handmade goods:
- Textiles and carpets. Keep them away from open flames and heaters. Follow the care instructions on the product page rather than assuming machine washing is safe.
- Small items and decorative pieces. Unless a product page says otherwise, treat items with small parts, cords, or fine detail as unsuitable for children under three.
- Jewellery. If you have a known metal sensitivity, check the materials listed on the product page before wearing.
- Food. Check the allergen and ingredient information on the product page and the packaging. If the two disagree, trust the packaging and tell us.
