FAQ

Buying

Is everything really made in Turkmenistan?

Yes. It is the one rule the store is built on. A product qualifies only if it was woven, forged, sewn, formed or made in Turkmenistan — not assembled elsewhere from Turkmen designs, and not re-labelled. Every seller signs a declaration of origin and materials for every product, and goods are checked when they arrive.

Where does my order ship from?

From inside the United States — our warehouse in Newark, Delaware, or one of our United States sellers. Delivery usually takes two to five days after dispatch.

Will I have to pay customs or duty?

No. Goods from Turkmenistan are imported and cleared before they are listed. There is nothing to pay on delivery.

How do I know the item actually exists?

Because nothing is listed until the stock has been counted — by our warehouse counting it in, by a scheduled video count, or by inspection. If you can add it to your cart, it is on a shelf.

Why do two carpets of the same design look different?

Because they were made by hand, by different people, on different looms. Colour, weave and dimensions vary. We photograph and measure every piece individually rather than reusing a stock image, so what you see is the piece you receive.

What is the export certificate on some carpets?

Certain carpets require official authorisation, with a seal and certificate, before they can leave Turkmenistan. Where an item has one, we publish it on the product page. It is documentary evidence of what the piece is and where it came from.

Can I return something?

Within 30 days of delivery. See Shipping & Returns.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Not at present. The store is built for United States delivery.

Selling

Who can sell here?

Manufacturers and workshops in Turkmenistan, and businesses and individuals in the United States who make or hold goods made in Turkmenistan. The commercial terms are the same for both. What decides an application is the goods and whether the working relationship makes sense — not who you are.

What does it cost to sell?

There is no application fee, no listing fee and no monthly platform fee. Our fee is 5% of the sale price. Separately, the real costs of selling — card processing, shipping, warehouse handling, freight and duty — are passed through at what they actually cost and itemised on your monthly statement. The complete fee schedule is set out in the seller agreement.

Do you buy my inventory?

No. The model is consignment — you own your goods until a customer buys them, and you are paid from your own sales. We do not buy stock and we do not advance money.

Why can I not sell cotton products?

United States Customs prohibits the import of Turkmen cotton and of any product made in whole or in part with it, and has done since 2018. A cotton warp, lining or fringe inside an otherwise wool product is enough to disqualify it and to put a whole shipment at risk. There are no exceptions.

How long until my products are listed?

A seller already in the United States can typically be live in about a week. A seller in Turkmenistan should plan on roughly ten to sixteen weeks, most of which is freight and documents rather than website work.

When do I get paid?

Sales are held through the 30-day return window, then appear on a monthly statement issued in the first week of the following month, with payment within ten business days of the statement. A 5% reserve is held against returns and released 90 days after the sale.

How do I apply?

See Sell with us, or send us a message in Turkmen, Russian or English.
